Mietec
Mietec Integrated Circuits specializes in the development and production of very large scale digital and mixed signal ASICs for the telecommunications market, and offers all the support necessary to develop the circuits and the associated software. Mietec was acquired by Alcatel and renamed Alcatel Mietec, a business unit of Alcatel Microelectronics. In April, 2002, Alcatel sold off its Microelectronics business to STMicroelectronics. STMicro retained the wireline solutions (ADSL, VoDSL, Gateway) and wireless solutions (Bluetooth, WLAN) product lines and sold the remaining mixed-signal automotive solutions product line to AMI Semiconductor Inc. (AMIS). STMicroelectronics was created in 1987 by the merger of SGS Microelettronica of Italy and Thomson Semiconducteurs of France with the aim of becoming a world leader in the sub-micron era. Today, STMicroelectronics is a global semiconductor company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of semiconductor integrated circuits (ICs) and discrete devices used in a wide variety of microelectronic applications, including telecommunications systems, computer systems, consumer products, automotive products and industrial automation and control systems.
